Business Catalyst is Ending!

Business Catalyst, the lesser-known CMS is sunsetting (closing down) and Adobe will be taking down all the websites developed / hosted on its platform by 2021. Most of us in the industry are already aware, but many have not taken any action, or set up a plan to help their clients out of this tough spot.

This is the right time to reach out to those clients and let them know that you have a plan for them, but it will need the right planning and execution to make sure a smooth migration to another platform, before Adobe, closes the BC doors forever.

Business Catalyst has been an all-in-one solution, providing an ‘A to Z’ management. In order to make sure your clients have a successful transition there are quite a few things to take into consideration, starting from; data-migration, SEO migration, email marketing migration (choosing the right platform, HubSpot, MailChimp, CM could be good considerations), corporate email accounts and domains records to hosting migration and more.

Depending on your clients’ budget and company vision and goals, we have a couple of ideas that could be proposed. Ultimately, if you have a client on Business Catalyst, we would love to have a call to do an audit and review their exact situation so an actionable plan can be presented.

  1. Is it time for your client to have a complete revamp? Any website on BC would likely be at least 3 years old, and in today’s competitive market, the way things are changing rapidly, we strongly recommend a revamp every few years. A new modern design, refocused copy and information architecture, based on solid data and business analysis.
  2. Are your clients happy with what they have, and just need to move everything into an environment that won’t be sunsetting anytime soon? In such cases, we would suggest a CMS migration. We can take the design as a reference, and try utilizing the front-end as much as possible, then can re-develop it into a new CMS like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.

If you are unsure about your clients’ CMS, you can use the link below to find it out. The link below will direct you to a page where you need to enter your clients’ website URL to find out the CMS it is built upon.
